The Preston England Temple is one of a series of detailed pencil drawings and paintings created by the artist Chad S. Hawkins. In 1989, at the age of seventeen, Chad started this unique temple series, becoming the original LDS artist to involve hidden spiritual images in his artwork. Before drawing each temple, Chad researches its history, construction, and beautiful surroundings. He then returns to his studio to draw the temple by referring to his notes, sketches, and photographs.

Located on the north edge of Chorley, the temple site overlooks rolling hills to the east and a greenbelt area to the north. This suburb of Preston is the site of the oldest continuous Church unit, the Preston Ward, which dates back to 1837. At the temple's dedication, President Gordon B. Hinckley referred to the temple saying, We have here so many functions that will be carried forward in this place . . . this will be a great central point of Church activity. (Church News, Hearts brim full of gratitude, Gerry Avant, 13 June 1998) The grounds are beautifully landscaped with 700 trees and more than 100,000 other plants. The landscapers were given a prestigious industry award for their work on the temple grounds for three straight years. Within this temple drawing, Chad has sketched Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd, accompanied by his flock of sheep. Christ is the Shepherd. his sheepfold is the Church of Jesus Christ (see John 10:14). As we attend the temple, we learn more richly and deeply the purpose of life and the significance of the atoning sacrifice of the Lord, Jesus Christ. The day will come when there will be one god and one Shepherd over all the earth (1 Nephi 13:41). He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom . . . (Isaiah 40:11).

This comes in a 11x14 print.
